Welcome to Yokomizo House

Misono Park “Yokomizo House” is visitor facilities located in Tsurumi ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa. Many buildings built in Edo period (1603~1868) include a main house “Omoya”, an entrance gate “Nagayamon”, a silkworm burn “Kaikogoya”, a grain storage “Kokugura” and a library “Bunkogura”. You can feel the rural life at that time close. In the event of the season, traditional culture in Japan is introduced with enjoying the flower and the seasonal plant.

Koi-nobori (Carp Streamer)

From the middle of April to Children's Day of May 5, many carp streamers swim in a front yard

Bamboo Lantern Festival

 

At the time of “Otsukimi” (Moonlight Watching) in September, several hundred bamboo lanterns set in the bamboo garden provide fantastic atmosphere.

Inasaku Kyoushitsu (Rice Growing Classroom)

 

From the plowing the wet-field in May to the Harvest Festival in December, you can experience the rice growing process.

Harvest Festival

The glutinous rice harvested in the “Rice Growing Classroom” is pounded into rice cake “Mochi”.

Mamemaki(Soybean Scattering)

 

Persons of the year (born under the same zodiac sign as the current year) scatter roasted soybeans to drive demons out and fortune in.

Hinamatsuri(Doll Festival)

Gorgeous Hina Dolls are displayed in an entire room and can enjoy the performance of the koto and powdered green tea.
